I started my success online when I was in my second year in college. Thanks to my teacher who did not just teach me the subjects that he is required to. He also taught me how to start a blog, and start earning from it.
I
remember writing anything before. I wrote book review, movie reviews,
poems, songs and even my research (as an education student) was
published in there. No one was really interested with my musings, until I
saw my teacher using his tricks to get viewers.
There
was once a website before that you can join and belong to a community
of bloggers, where you can visit a maximum of 300 blogs per day and in
return, they will also visit your site. Well, at least they will click
the widget installed on your site, even if they are not actually
interested with your writings. Still, this is a good source of visitors
before. Google spiders loves websites that has a good number of visitors
per day and they will rank your blog posts higher on their search
engine, a good way of increasing your traffic.
Website
traffic is also important for sponsors or advertisers. Yeah, as my blog
continue to have a lot of visitors per day, even in a non-organic way. I
am now able to show off my blog to sponsorships and advertisers who
would allow me to post their ads or post a review of their products on
my blog for a commission.
I remember the
excitement when I wrote my first ever sponsored review in my blog. It
was about a baby stroller. It took me three days to finally finish the
article and lots of research as if I am submitting a thesis. I really
took it very seriously and that was my first paid blog post. It was $8
for a 300-word article. Those where the early days!
Fast
forward today, we now have Tiktok, Youtube, Facebook, and the likes who
allow monetization on your videos. Videos are far more interesting,
engaging, and educational compared to blog posts. Well, blog posts have
their purpose but I think the world is fast moving towards more engaging
contents. You can also earn substantially today being a content creator
(as they would say).
I am not saying that you
don't need to have a blog today but it would be more rewarding and
effective if you have videos, clips, shorts, or whatever they call it.
Even this article will be more interesting if I made a Youtube video
about it and show my face, a blog, and some B rolls.
I don't think Blogging is dead but if you are a writer, you should start moving on and go with the tides of the new media.
